Quiz: Is Fashion Design the Right Career for You?

Many people love fashion, are interested in clothing, and follow trends, but don't see it as a possible profession, believing that only those who have been sketching since childhood and studied at a specialized institute become fashion designers. In practice, the journey often begins with a simple interest that a person didn't take seriously for a long time.
Try taking a short test and honestly answer yourself "yes" or "no".

  1. Are you curious about why one thing looks expensive and modern while another doesn't, even if the price is similar?
  2. Do you notice clothing details that many people don't pay attention to: fabric, fit, length, hardware, shape?
  3. Do you enjoy looking at new collections, brands, fashion shows, or clothing ideas on social media?
  4. Do you ever think: "I would change this item, and it would look much better"?
  5. Do you like the combination of color, shape, fabric, and the overall look?
  6. Are you attracted to the idea of creating something of your own, not just buying ready-made items?
  7. Would you like to work in a more creative field where you can see the results with your own eyes?

How to interpret the results

If you answered "yes" to 5–7 questions, it's quite possible that fashion design is truly close to you.
If "yes" to 3–4 questions — you clearly have an interest, and it's worth exploring it further.
If fewer — perhaps another area of the fashion industry is closer to you: styling, fashion journalism, merchandising, or garment production.

What's important to understand

A fashion designer is not just about drawings and inspiration. It's a profession where taste, understanding of people, modern trends, materials, and the ability to create things people want to wear come together.
Many people enter this field not right after school, but later — when they finally allow themselves to do what truly interests them.
