The wine color became popular thanks to the new creative director of Gucci, Sabato de Sarno, who in his debut collection called Ancora for the spring-summer season 2024 presented a new brand color, called Gucci Ancora. In an advertising campaign launched a little later, Sabato de Sarno called the presented burgundy color “David’s light, my new Gucci” and claims that this color is worn by self-assured girls, confident in themselves and their charm.

Other brands started following Gucci, and burgundy shades appeared in the collections of dozens of brands. The shade of red wine appeared in every second collection, and most often in the total look format. The only exception was the Prada show, where it won the role of a second fiddle, supporting classic black and dark blue. But at Tom Ford, The Attico, Burberry, Jil Sander, Valentino and Bottega Veneta it won a deserved solo part.

Burgundy is called the color of French wine, ripe cherries, expensive roses and few people can resist its splendor, and the burgundy color range includes a variety of shades of color, from the lightest to the darkest. Clothing of burgundy color is often associated with respectability and high status in society, that’s why it often appears on the lists of trends for the next season (usually autumn-winter season).

Burgundy + gray

One of the most stunning combinations of this season is burgundy + gray. Every fashionista for sure has trousers or a cardigan of this discreet color in her wardrobe, so combining it with burgundy items will not be difficult. In addition, you can choose any shade of gray: from dark graphite and lead to light silver.

White + burgundy

This combination will suit girls who like to play with contrasts. White would seem too bright in combination with burgundy – such dramatic difference in shades does not always look good.

Beige + burgundy

Therefore, there is a great alternative – items in dark sand or “camel” colors. You can start from adding accessories in beige shades into a burgundy outfit – a small bag or an autumn baseball cap will do.

Burgundy + chocolate

Dark and deep shades look harmoniously with each other.

We’re not calling you dress head to toe in wine, but at least consider your accessories – especially since glossy leather and textured suede look especially good in this color. And chocolate brown, olive khaki, navy blue and graphite gray will set fetch it out.
