7 Movies For Fashion Lovers To Watch

This is a biographical drama about the famous couturier, his work and personal life, which he had to hide from millions of fans.

The plot focuses on the period of Yves Saint Laurent’s life from 1965 to 1976 – the time when his fashion house became successful and popular, and the designer himself was trying to cope with the enormous fame that fell on him.

Phantom Thread (2017)

Phantom Thread tells the story of couturier Reynolds Woodcock, who ruled the world of haute couture in London in the 1950s. He dressed both movie stars and members of the royal dynasty and heiresses of influential families.

This elegant timeline of fashion was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. It shows an alluring love story, which subsequently destroys an entire life assiduously built over the years.
The film won an Oscar the same year in the Best Costumes category.

The Neon Demon (2016)

The Neon Demon is the story of a young girl who moves to Los Angeles hoping to start a modeling career. There, she will quickly take off to fame, which soon awakens a sense of jealousy among other models.
Some girls admire her, while others do their best to destroy this success.

The Neon Demon is a psychological thriller directed by Nicholas Winding Refn with Elle Fanning in the lleading role.

Atelier Fontana – Le sorelle della moda (2011)

The film series “Atelier Fontana” tells the story of the life of three sisters who became one of the founders of the cult of Italian fashion.

Sorelle Fontana Alta Moda s.r.l. was founded in 1943 by the three sisters Zoe, Mikol and Giovanna.
The Fontana sisters and their ateliers were among the first to give impetus to what is today called Made in Italy.

Jackie (2016)

About Jacqueline Kennedy – the first lady of the United States of America in the early 60s, the most popular woman of her time, an icon of style – there has been written in dozens of books and many films, but a huge interest in her life does not fade over the years. The Dressmaker (2015)

This Australian film is directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse and stars Kate Winslet. Events take place in 1961. A girl named Tilly Dunnage, after studying in Europe as a fashion designer, returns to her homeland in the village.

At first, the inhabitants of the town do not accept her, but gradually she wins the hearts of local ladies thanks to her wit and ability to sew impeccable outfits.

Personal shopper (2016)

“Personal Shopper” is a psychological thriller directed by Olivier Assayas, starring Kristen Stewart, and clothes for the film provided by the fashion house Chanel.
Kristen, Karl Lagerfeld’s muse since the show Métiers d’Art Paris in 2013, plays the role of a personal shopping assistant for a German supermodel and socialite in the film and is a girl haunted by the spirit of her late twin brother.

Olivier Assayas received the Best Director award at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival for this film.
