Learning to Choose the Right Hairstyle and Shape

haircutAny person, whether he or she follows fashion and style closely, dresses right or wrong, has to take daily care of his or her hair, comb them and fix them in a particular shape. While we can change clothes every day, our hairstyle usually stays the same. We only change it after attending a hair stylist or for special occasions. However, wrong haircut or hairstyle can spoil the most effective look and the most expensive clothing.

This is why when creating your style it is very important to be able to choose the right hairstyle and shape. To do so, you don’t necessarily need to complete hairstylist’s courses. It will be sufficient to understand the basic principles of composition and stylistics.

Before choosing a hairstyle, you have to take a look at a person’s face. Oval face is considered the most harmonic and beautiful type in our culture. All hairstyles suit oval face type.

However, if you’re unlucky and you have a different face type, you’ll be using hairstyle and haircut to hide this deficiency and create a harmonic composition. Our task when choosing a hairstyle is to visually make your face look as a harmonic oval one by using optical illusions.

What hairstyles suit different faces:

Long, drawn face (oval is stretched vertically)

Our task is to visually make your face look shorter, and to do so we’ll be stretching it horizontally instead of vertically.

Choose the Right Hairstyle2

Suitable hairstyles:
* Bouffant, bulky, airy hairstyle;
* Curls, Messed-up hair effect;
* Hair length down to a chin is the best;
* Straight fringe covering the forehead is better (horizontal line effect).

Wrong hairstyles:
* Long smooth hair;
* Slick smooth hair collected into a lock from behind;
* Parting in the middle;
* Open forehead.

Round face (flattened oval)

Our task is to make your face look visually longer, therefore we’ll be stretching it vertically rather than horizontally

Choose the Right Hairstyle

Suitable hairstyles:
* Long smooth hair with high top;
* Open forehead without a fringe;
* Assymetric, “torn” haircut with straight hair locks;
* No parting or parting to the side;
* Hair length lower than chin.

Wrong haircuts:
* Bouffant, bulky, airy hairstyle;
* Curls, cold wave;
* Bob haircut;
* Fringe covering the forehead.

Triangle “heart-shaped” face (oval is sharpened from top down)

Our task is to visually smoothen the sharp angle of a chin.
