Pantone experts analyze color patterns since the beginning of the year, and collect data for nine months. The Pantone Color Institute division takes into account current events in the world of art, cinema and sports, designers collections, political and economic agendas.
Experts discuss sampling until they identify the main shade that describes the mood of society. Sometimes it is difficult for them to make a clear decision, and two colors take same leading position. This was the case before 2021, when Pantone named 17-5104 “Impeccable Gray” and 13-0647 “Illuminating” (color close to yellow) as favorites.
Often the name of a color is given by direct association with fruits (19-1536 “Red Pear”), desserts (12-1110 “Peach Cream”) and drinks (18-0625 “Olive Martini”), as well as with natural phenomena (18- 4048 “Blue Nebula”)
